well, that

was fun!
Those were Chellis' words on his first driving experience. he was great, and we'll probably do some more tomorrow. not out on the road yet, but we went up to the parking lot of a local school, and he got a feel for the van, and drove around, and backed up, etc., for quite a while. very cool. he did really well. he'll be a good driver.
the other cool thing this weekend, was that I burned my first dvd! I imported Chellis', and Emerson's and Lincoln's last concerts, and turned them into a dvd. very slick. iMovie and iDvd work so well together, it was basically just clicking a few buttons, once I found my way around. took some time, about 45 minutes to burn the disc once the movie was ready, but not bad. I'll send a copy out to the folks in Iowa, and see what else I can come up with. pretty neat.
the boys and I are just hanging out, doing the usual, and in a while, I'll start tacos for supper. have a good weekend.

way

cool!
Chellis got his Learner's Permit today!! wow! we'll probably do some driving this weekend. I'm really looking forward to that. no, really, I am! I think he's going to be great. I'll let you know how it goes.
Emerson and Lincoln had their concert tonight, and they were great, too. I'll post some pictures at some point. I video taped their part of the concert, so maybe I'll even do a little movie excerpt. we'll see.
Counterpoint all day tomorrow, and then it's Friday. looking forward to that. have a good rest of the week.

bits

and pieces...
time for another thrilling entry in the rogblog... my apologies for not writing more regularly, I just haven't felt like writing much, lately. wonder why?...
anyway, the biggest news is (are?) the basketball exploits of Emerson and Lincoln. they had a couple of games this weekend, and between the two of them, over the two games they accounted for 13 points! Emerson scored two points in each game, and Lincoln has been on fire! he scored five in Saturday's game, and four last night. pretty cool. they won both games, and their team has been playing very well. unfortunately, I'm trying to figure out what we can do tomorrow night: they have a concert and a basketball game, the second game of a tournament. now if the concert was at 7 pm, and they performed a while into the concert, we could make it work for them to play at least part of the game (game's at 6 pm). but, their concert has been scheduled for 6:30 pm... too early for a concert anyway, but people were complaining because the concerts went so late on a school night... so, it's a dilemma, and I'm waiting to hear from the chorus teacher whether they'll move the concert back to 7... we'll see. if they have to miss the bball game, they'll just have to miss the bball game. (that would leave their team with only seven players) I don't think that Emerson and Lincoln are the only kids involved in both events, but depending on how the other Twinfield teams did in the tournament, they might be! and their chorus teacher impressed on me how important they are to the chorus. (I can believe that!) he says they're the only ones that can sing the inner harmony parts... (yes, I'm a proud father!)
oh well. something will work out. it always does, right?
have a great week.

the best thing I've read

in quite a while....
this should be required reading for all Americans:

Beat the Right in Three

I loved this one:

Sounds to me like the cheap-labor conservatives have a peculiar definition of “freedom”. I mean, just what do these guys consider to be “tyranny”.
That’s easy. Take a look.
“Social spending” otherwise known as “redistribution”. While they don’t mind tax dollars being used for killing people, using their taxes to feed people is “stealing”.

read it and pass it on.

down

and up...
well, feeling ok today. actually, feeling pretty good. hasn't been the case lately, but I think I'm finally coming to terms with all of this, as hard as that is to think about. I know that divorce is imminent, though I haven't gotten the papers yet. I expect they will show up this week. it will be hard, but I will get through it. I have wonderful friends, both close to home and all around the world, and my family has been so supportive. it is so sad, and a huge cry is still in my future, but life will go on. my three boys are terrific, and I will always have them. and I have great memories. of so many things.

the boys and I had a great weekend, with the usual eating and computer/games. E & L had a basketball game yesterday, which we almost missed, because we all thought it was later in the day. thankfully their Mom called and got us going. we made it for the second half. they lost, but had a good time. today we finished up The Return of the King, and started watching some of the special features from that collection. I think I know what we'll be watching this coming weekend...

ah, the future. so unexpectedly opening up.
have a great week.

HAPPY 44TH BIRTHDAY,

Rog!
And many more! Signed: Your Big Sister, who remembers well the day you were born!

damn

cool...
I want one of these: Sideways Bike kind of like a cross between a bike and a skateboard. hadn't heard about the three directions of human balance, either.

a rather busy day for New Years. up not too early, and then a bit of surfing and video games for the boys before I made breakfast sandwiches (eggs, cheese, and bacon on english muffins or mini-bagels). then Keith, and Elissa, and Joey the beagle puppy arrived, and we went to Friendly's so K & E could grab a bite before they hit the road. then I took the boys back to Plainfield so they could go with Marnie to a NY's party. since I got back to the apartment, I cut my hair (and hacked up the back of my neck...), vacuumed, and now I'm about to finally get to the breakfast dishes. oh, and more surfing, obviously.

I guess I'm ready to go back to school tomorrow. only about three weeks until the end of the second quarter, so I guess that means we're nearly half-way through. cool. a lot to do with my second qurater classes though. I guess I'd better get busy! where has the time gone? (guess I'm grateful that it has gone...)

a lot of time thinking about the future and what I want to do. I don't like not being given a second chance.

ok, have a great week. and by-the-way, don't forget there's a special day coming up...
