SCIENCE IN SILICO

comment spam

the way it is...
I had a conversation the other day with a friend who said she wasn't comfortable referring her students' parents to my site to learn more about me. I was really surprised by that. she basically said that it was a blog (which it is) and there was lots of weird stuff. I've been thinking about it ever since, and I really think, and hope that what she was talking about was the comment spam that shows up in the latest comments box. I could disable comments completely, or just get rid of the box, but I don't want to do that. right now there are a couple that because of a bug in the software I can't get rid of (I deleted them, but they're still showing up...), and sometimes I get spam that is quite disgusting. I delete it as soon as I can, but I'm not able to monitor my site at every moment. believe me, it infuriates me to receive this spam, most of which comes from script robots on hijacked computers.
I suppose she might be more conservative than I thought, and didn't like my liberal take on things, but that would surprise me, too.
anyway, I hope that my pages are appropriate; look at my pictures and drawings, and listen to some music, and check out the links to think that have caught my attention or interest.
